Here’s the thing, clinical skin care works. It’s really that simple. You’ll need realistic expectations and you’ll need to have patience. Forget TikTok, forget influencers, heck even forget the advice your friend gave you (chances are she’s not the same skin type as you anyways)… book a skin analysis with a professional who carries a clinical line. When it comes to clinical grade skincare, it’s not batch made, it is actually lab tested, and it’s backed by science… real science. This means you’re actually getting what is written on the bottle – in both ingredients, and proven results.
Even professionals don’t stick with the same A,B,C steps year after year… you know why? Because your skin is an organ and should be treated as such. Your skin is alive! We want consistency, but a little revamp gets us feeling and looking refreshed! After religiously using the Hydropeptide Redefine serum for years, I no longer struggle with breakouts. When I switched my Redefine serum to the Hydropeptide LumaPro-C serum paired with their potent Firma-Bright booster (about two years ago), it cleared the hyperpigmentation that those old breakouts left behind. (if you want the science on how these serums did just that, be sure to let us know that you’d like to see it in future blogs).
I’ve been using those clinically tested serums for years, and decided it was time for a switch up – how fun! I turn thirty this year and with that I’ve noticed changes in my skin’s elasticity, dullness in my complexion, and sensitivity in my eczema patches (especially this time of year – curse you NL weather).
After 8 weeks with this change up (featured in image) here’s what I’ve noticed and why:
Retinol Routine Booster: 1% Retinol Solution
Formulated with an exclusive patented peptide called CellRenew-16 that has been shown to stimulate growth factors for key structural proteins in the skin and improve skin barrier functions, this serum is a 1% Universal Tri-Retinol complex. Adding retinol to my routine has significantly improved my complexion to reveal a brighter, tighter and more youthful glow. The Hydropeptide Reinol Routine Booster diminished my fine lines, continues to firm and smooth my skin, and provides my skin much needed reparative benefits, without irritating my eczema – or causing flare ups. A retinol that is anti-inflammatory means that it’s effective in delivering results without over stripping, or over sensitizing my skin. Be sure to only us in PM if you’re going to pick this product up at your next spectrum visit, though we highly recommend before starting retinol to book our new “Ready For Retinol” Facial.
Ingredients?
A combination of 3 highly-intelligent retinoids that effectively and gently release into their active form once they move through the layers of the skin. The CellRenw-16 peptide – which is exclusive to Hydropeptide skincare – is paired with advanced brighteners such as Ascorbic Acid (just to name one). Not to forget about the anti-inflammatory properties supplied by an ingredient known as Allantoin, and the humectants we all love that are Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide.
Firm-A-Fix Nectar: Lifting Neck & Decollete Serum
Is a luxurious gel-serum that tones and sculpts both the neck and decollate area, using a blend of collagen-boosting peptides. These clinical ingredients not only lift the skin, but hydrates “crepey” skin as well. I use this serum daily Am or PM. Personally, I wanted to start this serum now in my thirties as a preventative measure. We bring all of our skincare steps and of course our spf, all the way down our neck and onto our décolleté, so why not a serum formulated with anti-gravity and anti-wrinkle peptides specifically for this area too? It’s a perfect product to add to your home care routine if your skin concerns involve aging, dryness, hyperpigmentation, or sun damage in the neck + décolleté areas.
Ingredients?
It contains 3 types of Hyalauronic acid for hydration, mushroom extracts for boosting antioxidants, and 2 peptides that aid in relaxing wrinkles plus assisting in boosting structural integrity of the skin, therefore fighting sagging.
Vital Eyes: Instant Awakening Serum
So if you’ve been with me since day one you know my love affair with Hydropeptide’s Eye Authority – Eye Brightening Cream. However as I’ve mentioned the changes my skin is going through as I navigate my thirties, the eczema patches under my eyes no longer share the same love for the product as my heart and brain do knowing it’s ingredient formulation (*sigh*). I’ve switched to the Vital Eyes product by Hydropeptide in an effort to still offer that area of my face the hydration it needs (especially in the dead of winter). It has a gorgeous ingredient deck (despite it not being my precious Eye Authority) containing a favourite ingredient of the clinic – Bakuchiol. “What the heck is Bakuchiol Melanie?!”… It’s a retinol-alternative! Perfect for sensitive girlies like me who cannot handle the power of retinol (in this one delicate area of the under eyes – the rest of my face thrives, as mentioned above)
Ingredients? (other than Bakuchiol)
In addition to the retinol-alternative, this product has botanical extracts for under and upper eye lifting, and caffeine for de-puffing!
Even us professionals with all of our education and years of experience (not only in the industry but with being loyal to the one brand as well) need a change every now and then. Some of the top reasons I chose Hydropeptide skincare for me and my clients all those years ago are because no matter what product you chose, for no matter what the skin concern is, you can be sure the product is clinical, science based, anti-aging, sensitive safe, and formulated with you and your environment in mind. What better skin care to have in a province that changes seasons by the hour? (Can we take a moment to appreciate the sun today? Where has she been!?)
